With the development of its “Health Valley”, Western Switzerland is positioning itself as a key player in healthcare innovation.
At the heart of this initiative are 3 major players: The future Pôle Innovation Santé de Sion, an interdisciplinary initiative scheduled for autumn 2026, aims to bring together education, applied research and economic development, in partnership with institutions such as HES-SO Valais-Wallis, EPFL Valais-Wallis, OVS, the Ark Foundation and its innovation cluster SpArk. The project benefits from significant funding and is part of a long tradition of close collaboration between the universities and the Valais business community. The cluster aims to address recruitment challenges in the sector, attract talent and stimulate innovation through synergies between hospitals, research and industry.
At the same time, Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) continues to play a key role with its “Innovation Hub”, the first of its kind in Switzerland, launched in 2017. This hub promotes intrapreneurship and has already given rise to more than 140 projects, start-ups and patents.
The Genolier Innovation Hub, in the private sector, completes this innovation trilogy, focusing on the clinical application of medical and scientific innovations and illustrating the region’s commitment to advancing health and technology.
