The Aktiia blood pressure monitoring bracelet has just been backed by Californian venture capital heavyweight Khosla Ventures. With a total of CHF 27 million in funding, the start-up intends to conquer the US market.
At the same time, Biospectal, a Lausanne-based start-up, has just launched its OptiBP application on the Swiss market, which allows blood pressure to be measured by placing a fingertip on the lens of a smartphone.
Using the same non-invasive optical technique developed by CSEM that can detect changes in pressure and volume in blood vessels, these two start-ups have cracked the code, marking a major milestone in the fight against the world’s number one cause of cardiovascular disease and premature death.
