In Valais, the cantonal rescue organization is made up of militiamen, spread over 12 rescue regions. It comprises over 2,000 responders of all types (doctors, first responders, rescuers, divers, etc.).
In 2019, the total number of interventions involving all types of resources (ambulances, SMUR, helicopters) reached more than 22,400 primary and secondary interventions, including 4,089 helicopter interventions in Valais.
The coordination of this heterogeneous population of responders has now been greatly facilitated by the development and deployment of the RescueVal application: a cantonal system enabling the engagement of available militiamen closest to the patient, without prior coordination. A vital time-saver and a real added value for the Valais rescue system. Find out more about this initiative on the front page of our newsletter.
