In the headlines: The desire to digitize healthcare systems is becoming more and more apparent in Switzerland.
The number of digital health services is exploding. So much so that there is now talk of the emergence of eHealth, an innovation sector that uses digital technology to develop new medical services. Major universities, such as ETHZ and EPFL, are already very active in this sector, with dedicated research teams and start-up incubators, such as the Innovation Park at EPFL. Private investors, as well as healthcare players, contribute financially to the development of these start-ups and also bring their experience of the very complex Swiss healthcare system.
In addition, funds are being invested in the development of more inclusive technologies. Indeed, the Valais institutes Idiap and Icare are participating in a research project aiming to facilitate access to important information for mentally handicapped, deaf or blind people.
