The Swiss start-up Twiice is preparing to launch its exoskeleton in the American market, where health insurance will cover these devices.
Designed to assist individuals with paraplegia in standing and walking, Twiice’s exoskeleton stands out for its lightweight design (17 kg) and ease of use, allowing for quick activation in just one or two sessions. In the United States, approximately 160,000 people are awaiting such a device, representing a potential market of $15 billion.
In Switzerland, although reimbursement is not yet available, Twiice is working to demonstrate that its exoskeleton can reduce healthcare costs by decreasing complications associated with spinal cord injuries. This innovation could transform patients’ lives by providing greater autonomy and facilitating their social reintegration.
